It's one of the few noble professions and you can be proud of having been a Law Enforcement Officer at the end of your life. The lives you save, and the serious problems you fight and prevent, are clear evidence of a life well lived.
First, some people really don't understand the job of a Law Enforcement Officer, or how LEO's make our society better. LEO's are the ultimate Peacemaker- trying to solve disputes, serving in emergency situations, and protecting innocent people, while they follow and enforce the laws. Jesus cared about people. LEO's do too. Jesus stood for truth and justice. LEO's do too. If Christians DO understand the job of an LEO, most would agree that Jesus would be a good officer, due to the fact that He sought to bring peace while honoring the law. There also may be people that call themselves Christians, but truly are not, therefore not having the Holy Spirit residing in them, yet claiming to speak for Him when they actually aren't.
Yes. Having faith in Jesus Christ, making Him your Lord and Savior, can give you a peace that transcends all understanding when facing dangerous situations. Faith in Jesus Christ brings a new sense of love for your fellow man. A Cop who is a believer relies on the the Holy Spirits help for how to manage their job and the stresses of their job. The Cop who seeks God's will for their life, their future, their family and profession, has peace God is directing him/her. And if that officer makes that ultimate sacrifice, they can know without a doubt, where they will spend eternity.
The Holy Spirit left those churches long ago. Now they're empty shells. Don't judge Christ by false churches and Christians. Jesus loves and supports Law Enforcement Officers.
Qs About Evil
Why do bad things happen to good people, particularly Law Enforcement Officers? We live in a fallen world. Bad things happen to the best of people. LEOs are among the best, serving in terrible locations and seeing and dealing with people at their worst. Bad things are bound to happen to LEOs. Our job is to make their jobs less disheartening and more rewarding.
What does the Bible say about evil? Hate what is evil, cling to what is good. Satan is the source, and he wants your soul. Deny it to him.
What should we do about evil? Know the source: Satan. Jesus said "He who is not with me is against me." There is no middle ground. Choose Jesus. Then fight the evil done by those who work for Satan. You will know them by their words and actions.
